JOHN "REGGIE" RUGGIERO
Reggie started racing in 1969 in the
Modified Division at Plainville Stadium winning many feature events. Reggie became noticed by the top car owners after winning 14 features in a season at Plainville driving Don Moons # 9 Pinto after Don was forced to sit out the season with a broken arm Don received in a non-racing accident. Mario Fiore had been looking for a permanent replacement for Gary Colturi in the #44 after Gary was killed in a highway motorcycle accident and picked Reggie to drive the car and the rest became history.
Reggie is now in his 4th decade as one of the most successful Modified Drivers in history. Besides Reggie's 3 Riverside Park Speedway Championships the Reg also holds the ALL-TIME Riverside Park Speedway wins leader with 93 victories, 36 more victories than "Wild" Bill Greco who ended his career with 57 victories. Reggie is also one of the leaders in victories on the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour where he has come close to winning the Championship during many seasons, finishing 2nd on 6 occasions.
Reggie also has wins at Martinsville Speedway, the Race of Champions at Pocono International Raceway, New Smyrna Beach Florida, many wins a Stafford Speedway including the Spring Sizzler and Richmond International Speedway.
Besides his 3 Riverside Park Championships, the Reg has captured the Monadnock N.H. Modified Championship twice and the Stafford Motor Speedway Championship once.
Reggie is now driving the Iguana Motorsports, Les Care Kitchens Sponsored #2 on the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour owned by Reggie and Partner Tony Moffo.
